IN LOVING MEMORY
                               OBITUARY

HARRIETT PRICILLA SPADY AMES, the daughter of the late Samuel and Queenie Morris Spady was born September 11, 1937 in Northampton County, Virginia, one of thirteen children.  She passed quietly form labor to rest Monday, April 7, 2003 in the Shore Memorial Hospital, Nassawadox, Virginia.

Harriett was educated in the public schools of Northampton County.  At an early age she became a member of the First Baptist Church, Capeville.

She was known by many as a quiet person with a  great personality, always wearing a smile.  Her favorite phrase was "I'm Alright."

She was united in matrimony for over forty-seven years to Samuel Ames.  Her love for her family showed daily as a loving mother - and cared deeply for her children and grandchildren.  She also helped raise two nephews, Eugene and James Johnson.

Harriett worked for twenty-one years at the America House, now Sunset Beach.  She enjoyed shopping and going to the flea market was her favorite pastime.  Every Saturday you could count on her being at the sale.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Samuel Ames; four daughters and three sons-in-law. Deborah (Larry) Wynder, Durham, N.C., Diane (Donnie) Collins, Townsend, VA., Denise Ames, Durham, N.C., and Dawn (Leon) Jackson, Richmond, VA.; eleven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews, many other relatives and friends.

I've Gone
Now that I have gone
And you can no longer see my face,
Don't cry anymore
I've gone on to a better place
Although my days seemed short and few
God took me because there was nothing left to do
Don't burden your heart with grief
I pray that you will find relief
Just know I was saved by amazing grace
And I was given the strength to finsh my race
Thank him for the blessings he's given me
Especially that I am free!
