In the early morning hours of April 17, 2003 God came down and took his daughter, MARGARET L. KELLAM home. Margaret, affectionately known as “Ree”, was born October 16, 1935 to the late Paul and May Reid in Shields, Virginia. Raised in a strong Christian family, Margaret joined Holy Trinity Baptist Church at an early age and served with the Missionaries for a number of years. She delighted many with her extraordinary cooking ability and her embroidery. She also lifted her voice up to Zion as a singer in Mt. Calvary’s Choir, and displayed a unique manner in expressing love and concern for family, friends and children.
Margaret was educated in the public schools of Accomack County. She had the opportunity to serve in several capacities during her rewarding years of employment; Duer Produce Farms and Eddie Seafood. With a passion for family and friends, Margaret was always there for them and ready and available to help in any manner.
Margaret leaves to cherish her fond memories: her loving and devoted daughter, Prophet Mary Onley of Painter, Virginia; two brothers, Charles Reid of Exmore, Virginia and Paul (Bessie) Reid of Belle Haven, Virginia; eight step children; two foster sons, Rev. John Nickens and brother Willie Giddens; four grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, a number of in-laws, other relatives and friends. |
