In sorrow and with a profound sense of loss, we mourn the passing of our beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, relative and friend, VIRGINIA ROGERS MAJOR.  She departed this life at Shore Memorial Hospital, Nassawadox, Virginia Tuesday, April 5, 2005 at 9:30 A.M.

Virginia, the daughter of the late Ostric L. Rogers and the late Mary Lena LeCato Rogers was born in Jamesville, Virginia September 27, 1939.  She received her education in the public schools of Northampton County, Virginia.  After graduating from Northampton County High School, she moved to Brooklyn, New York where she resided for thirty years.

On April 25, 1966 Virginia was joined in Holy Matrimony to Connish Major.  To this union two daughters were born, Valencia who preceded her in death in 1970 and Tonya Major Jones.  From her marriage to Edward Watson, she was blessed with her eldest child, Kenneth.

At a very early age, she confessed her faith and was baptized at Ebenezer Baptist Church located in Wardtown, Virginia.  At Ebenezer, she served faithfully on the Senior Choir, a member of the Willing Workers Ministry, Church Clerk, a member of the R.W. Wilson Choir, and Vice President of the Missionary Ministry.

While living in New York she was under the pastoral care of the Protestant Chapel at J.F.K. Airport, Queens, New York.

Virginia was an excellent homemaker.  Upon plans to relocate back to her beloved Eastern Shore, her family was honored with special recognition from the Protestant Chapel for faithfulness in worship and service to the Lord.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Connish Major  of Keller, VA; a son, Kenneth Watson of Bronx, N.Y.; a daughter, Tonya Major Jones of Keller, VA; two brothers, Maurice Rogers, Sr. of Eastville, VA and Forrest Rogers, Sr. of Hollis, N.Y.; one sister, Antha Stewart of Brooklyn, N.Y.; mother-in-law, Virginia T. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ostric, Jr. and James and two sisters, Bernice and Anna.
