| Early Thursday morning, May 23, 2002, Mercer E. Eaton departed this life. Mercer, the youngest child of Alzarina Rawls-Eaton and Henry Eaton, was born on August 14, 1910 in Holland, Virginia. He attended school and resided in his home state of Virginia during his early years. As a yong man seeking his lot in life he moved to New York City, me and married Willieanna Satchell living hapily until her passing in 1986. Their union bore two children, a daughter, Rheta (deceased) and a son, Ronald. Mercer worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad for more that thirty-five years retiring in 1975. His working careeer was interrupted for several years while he served in the United States Navy during World War II being honorably discharged in 1945. Mercer is survived by: his on, Ronald Eaton and his wife Fredi Savage-Eaton; three grandchildren, Kebra Cooper and her husband John Cooper, Kyle Alper and Dewan Eaton, as well as two great granchildren, Jonathan and Joshua Cooper.
