O b i t u a r y In sacred benediction, in humble and peaceful joy, HARRY CROSBY SAMPLE, SR. slipped away in love and dignity at his daughter’s residence on Tuesday, January 13, 2004. Harry, known to family and friends as “Doc”, was the son of the late Lucy Ann and Raymond Sample. He was born January 3, 1926 in Northampton County Virginia. At an early age “Doc” accepted Christ in his life, and moved through each moment as if a window on all times. In the 1960”s, Harry moved to Denton, Maryland where he began working for Allen Food, Inc. and retired after thirty years of dedicated service. Harry embraced life with joy and was a very caring, loving, and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Sample, son, James Raymond Sample, brother, Courtland Sample and two sisters, Gussie James and Annie Sample. He touched the lives of everyone who came in contact with him. He was grateful for all the loving memories and time he shared with his family. Harry leaves to cherish his memories: four sons: Harry Sample, Jr., Hurlock, MD, William Sample, Nassawadox, VA, Michael Barrett, Federalsburg, MD, and Leon Barrett, Washington, D.C.; four daughters, Ethel Custis Johnson (Calvin Lee), Annie Sample Northan of Nassawadox, VA, and Karen Barrett and Janice Barrett of Seaford, DE; six sisters, Maggie Lewis and Helen Singleton of Philadelphia, PA, Evera Ayers of Painter, VA, Mary Sessoms, Viola Sample, and Nancy Jones of Nassawadox, VA; four sisters-in-law, Mary Prattis, Connie Harris and Carolyn Prattis of Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Merele Bonner of Denton, MD; one brother-in-law, Larry Dickerson, Denton, MD; one son-in-law, Calvin Johnson of Nassawadox, VA; twenty-three grandchildren; twenty-eight great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends Because he was so dear to us, his memory will live on. Just as the fragrance of a rose, his kind and enduring way and thoughts are still in the hearts that love him; he lives and always will. T h e F a m i l y |
