Myrtle Malissa Goodwin Upshur, born the eleventh child sixth daughter to the late Margaret and Guilford Goodwin October 23, 1937 in Isle of Wight County, Virginia.
She received her education in Isle of Wright County and Northampton County Public Schools. She confessed Christ at age twelve and was baptized and joined the Bethel Baptist Church. She was a kind, loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend.
She went from earthly labor to eternal rest Monday December 9, 2002.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her devoted husband Charlie Upshur; son, Walter Goodwin; daughter-in-law, Wanda S. Goodwin; step son, Charlie Upshur; one sister, Sarah Brodie; two brothers, Danny and Frank Goodwin; three granddaughters, Conjaya L. Goodwin; Volissia Goodwin, and Zakara Goodwin; one great grandson, Derrell N. Titus; Two special nieces, Margaret Goodwin and Jacqueline Goodwin; one special nephew, Melvin Goodwin; two brothers-in-law, William Brodie and Willie Upshur; three sisters-in-law, Laura Goodwin, Blossom Goodwin, and Susie Spadey; nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; host of other relatives and friends.
