Thought:
Make Up Your Mind
Rom 12:2
We must make a plan for our lives and it begins with our thoughts. What we think is very powerful. Proverbs 23:7 reminds us “as you think in your heart so are you.” What we think feeds our souls. Good thoughts produce good food for our bodies, minds and spirits. Likewise bad thoughts produce bad food and bad results for us physically, mentally, and spiritually. What we are...the state of our very souls...begins with our thoughts. In this passage Paul is talking about transformation by the renewing of the mind. A change that takes place, not of substance but of quality. What we are is different—new thoughts, new disposition, new inclinations, and new understanding. Who we are is different—new actions, principles, rules and guidelines for our lives. The whole person is renewed because of new and transformed thoughts. Transformation is God’s work. The renewing of the mind is much like putting on a new shape and figure. Paul described the enemy of God’s work as conformity or much like putting on the fashions of the world which pass away quickly. He advises us to be non-conformist—to put on our spiritual garments of praise, worship, and gratitude toward God. What we think is important. Let God have control over this creative process that minds may be changed, hearts may be fixed, and souls may be saved...
