KURTIS LAMONT ROWLEY, better known as “Big Head”, departed this life October 24, 2011 at the Riverside Regional Medical Center, Newport News, Virginia with his family beside him.  Kurtis was born to Robert and the late Mildred Stewart Rowley October 14, 1971 at the Northampton Accomack Memorial Hospital, Nassawadox, Virginia.  Kurt is preceded by his mother, Mildred Rowley and brother, Robert W. Rowley, Jr.

Kurtis was educated through the Northampton Public School System where he sang and played his guitar.  After completing school, Kurt joined the United States Navy wher he served two years.

He returned to the Shore after his military service and worked for Perdue, Northampton Schools, Star Transit, and Tyson.  While working for the public transportation system, he amazingly attracted people from one county to the next.  Everyone speaks of his kind heart and smiling face.  His hobbies were collecting comic books, model cars and driving Firebird “style” cars.  He was a very kind person always having an open heart for kids and animals.  Kurt would try to greet with a comment of “Big Head” before you greeted him.

Left to mourn his passing and cherish fond memories of him are: his father, Robert W. Rowley, Sr.; brother, Alvin Rowley; aunts, Inez (Henry) Palmer of Seaford, DE, Armilla Tate of Salisbury, MD, Minnie (Donald) George of Atlanta, GA; Uncles, Claude Rowley of Birdsnest, VA and Carl (Ivy) Rowley of Cheriton, VA; nieces, Monita Rowley (GA), Sherie Jacobs (Norfolk, VA), Taryn Rowley and Anyssa Rowley (CA); nephews, Bray Bailey (WA, Glenn Alexander Rowley and Adam Resse Rowley (CA); and a host of other relatives and friends.  A very special place in his heart for Jamara, Shana, and Kyteia.  And lets not forget his four legged pal, Prince.

Kurtis was our baby, I am going to miss my cousin dearly!..I remember him as a baby and my mother, his aunt Minnie, calling him Tweety Bird, because that is who is looked like as a baby. A cute lil guy and now a handsome Angel!

To Uncle Bobby and Al - you know we love you both very much and am sorry we could not be there with you on this day. You know Kurtis was very, very proud of his family and loved us very very much. For example, family members were gathered in Grandma Fannie's yard ready for their trip back home; Kurtis -working at the time- would have a bus load of senior citizens and pulled right in the yard to hug each and everyone to say goodbye! He felt family comes first (smile). We love and will miss him soo much. Kurtis was the youngest grandchild of the late Edward and Fannie Rowley. His Aunt Minnie lovingly called him "tweety bird" when he was a baby. We are here for you ---ALWAYS! We love you ALWAYS! We will see you thru, ALWAYS! Love
MonkeyFace :-), Aunt Minnie & Uncle Donald, Kim, KaeLynn and Ricky.
