Obituary

Born: Monday, August 14, 1933
Died: Sunday, September 22, 2013

After a long period of illness and with her family by her side, Agnes Marie Jacob Wilkins of Exmore, VA peacefully departed this earth on September 22, 2013 in Virginia Beach, VA.
Agnes, affectionately known as “Sug", because she was as sweet as sugar, was born in Eastville, Virginia to Taft and Marie Jacob on August 14, 1933. She attended school at Northampton County High School and graduated in 1951. She went on to Practical Nursing School and later obtained her Associate Degree from Helene Fuld College of Nursing and became a Registered Nurse. She worked as a nurse for 43 years before retiring in 1995. Agnes was involved in the Rural Health Care organization and the Northampton County High School Alumni Association.
In 1954, Agnes married her high school prom date, Moses ("Mokey") D. Wilkins, Jr. in Brooklyn, New York. To that union were born two daughters, Sabrina Monee and Sandra Michelle. After many years living in New York, she moved back to the Eastern Shore.
She enjoyed entertaining, sewing, crocheting, cooking and crafts.  Agnes loved to travel with her loving husband, "Mokey" and visited many places throughout Europe, the Caribbean, North and South America.  One of her most notable contributions in the communities where she lived was her desire to help and encourage young people in reaching their fullest potential.  Agnes was a classy, dignified woman who will always be remembered for her style and grace. Her favorite color was yellow, and boy… it certainly looked good on her!
Agnes is preceded in death by her parents, Taft and Marie Jacob; three brothers, Fred, Billy Taft and Carl.
Agnes is survived by her husband, Moses D. Wilkins Jr.; daughters, Sabrina Richards (Wayne) and Sandra Monroe;  sister, Delores Samuels (John); brother, Leonard Jacob (Tonya); sister-in-laws, Lucille and Catherine; grandchildren Tiffany Joyner (Rashad), Brandon Richards (Ashley), Janel Monroe; great-grandchildren Gabrielle Joyner, Brielle Richards, Braeden Richards and a host of nieces and nephews.
